Its breadth of 200+ services, unmatched global infrastructure, and first-mover advantage have created an ecosystem that is extraordinarily difficult for competitors to fully replicate. For enterprises, the depth of compute, storage, database, and machine learning offerings is unparalleled. The pay-as-you-go model democratized access to enterprise-grade infrastructure for startups. That said, AWS is not without shortcomings: pricing complexity is a genuine pain point, and unexpected bills are a near-universal complaint. The learning curve is steep, documentation can be labyrinthine, and the sheer number of services creates decision fatigue. Azure and Google Cloud have closed gaps in specific areas like hybrid cloud and AI tooling.
